Suspect in San Francisco Hit-and-Run Incident Pleads Not Guilty to Charges Involving Injured Child

An individual who was taken into custody in connection with a hit-and-run accident that occurred in San Francisco a month ago and resulted in the catastrophic injury of a youngster who was riding a bicycle entered a plea of not guilty on Thursday, according to the police.

Jonathan Lam was taken into custody on Sunday in Daly City, about a week after the collision that occurred in the Richmond District of the city.

The San Francisco District Attorney’s Office issued a news release on Friday stating that on May 24, a young girl of five years old was riding her bicycle in the crosswalk at the intersection of 31st Avenue and Clement Street. At that time, a Jeep Wagoneer SUV made a left turn onto 31st Avenue and ran her over. During the time of the collision, the youngster was accompanied by her mother, who was placed a few feet behind her.

Critical condition was the condition of the girl when she was rushed to the hospital. Regarding her current status, nothing was known.

A charge of fleeing the scene of an accident was brought against Lam, who is 35 years old. Additionally, the accusation was enhanced to include the fact that the incident lead to serious injuries. The allegations have been refuted by Lam.

After posting a bond of one hundred thousand dollars, Lam was freed from detention on Monday, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
