A medical issue that was not related to work has resulted in the death of a Tarpon Springs police officer who was 29 years old, according to an announcement made by Police Chief Jeffrey Young on the Facebook page of the department.
The seven-year veteran officer Nicholas Wood had been with the department when he passed away on Tuesday while he was off-duty.
Each and every person who knew Wood received Young’s most heartfelt condolences.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Nick, his family and his girlfriend,” Young stated in his statement. “To my brothers and sisters of the Tarpon Springs Police Department, stay strong, we are here for one another, and we will get through this.”
