One of the most well-known nicknames for the city of Gladewater is “antique capital of East Texas.”
It is therefore not surprising that the community draws a large number of people to the eateries located in the downtown area.
Certain individuals, however, were taken aback when an alligator measuring nine feet in length made the decision to walk by them. The photographs of it are just stunning.
It was written on the Facebook page of the Gladewater Police Department that “Big thanks to Todd Long, Texas Game Warden, for his expertise!” We were able to safely transport a 9-foot-two-inch alligator from the downtown area of Gladewater (located in the 400 block of South Tyler Street) to its native habitat in the Sabine River thanks to the collaborative efforts of everyone involved.
Following the completion of the operation, there were no injuries sustained by the officers, firefighters, or the animal. We are pleased with the safe and professional reaction that was provided by everyone involved,” the police said.
According to the news stories, it took place in close proximity to a restaurant known as Tele’s restaurant.
That establishment is a Mexican eatery located on Tyler Street.
According to WVVA, the alligator’s presence attracted a large number of people to the parking lot of the restaurant, and it was up to Gregg County Game Warden Todd Long to determine what course of action to take. He told the news station that the alligator was “grumpy” and that it was putting up quite a struggle throughout the entire encounter.
“Right there on the side of the road, stuck against a barrier made of wrought iron. All of him was present. Long stated to the television station that he did not exceed 9 and a half feet in height.
On his Facebook page, Long shared photographs of the alligator that was so enormous. He commented on Facebook, “Thank you to the Gladewater Police Department and the Gladewater Fire Department for their overnight teamwork in escorting from downtown to the Sabine River safely.” This was in reference to the collaborative effort that was made to capture the alligator and remove it from the vicinity of people.
It is likely the largest one that has ever occurred in a crowded environment. It was a cause for concern. To add insult to injury, in addition to the traffic, there is also the neighborhood there, which includes walkers at times. so it was so late in the evening was perhaps the only thing that saved the day. Long reported to the television station that there was a moderate amount of traffic.
According to what he informed the news station, the alligator made a growling sound and attempted to attack the cops and the warden.
“At long last, we were successful in getting that irritable alligator to roll out to the left and roll out to the right. According to what Long said with WVVA, “I finally got it tired out and got his mouth taped.”
