Around 3:40 p.m., a serious collision occurred on the Thruway, which resulted in at least one person becoming trapped inside of a vehicle that had sustained significant damage and caused traffic to back up in both directions on the busy route.
Assisting many individuals at the scene were first responders from the New Windsor Emergency Medical Services and the fire department, who worked in conjunction with the State Police. A medivac helicopter was dispatched by the emergency personnel, and it extricated one individual who had sustained critical injuries from the scene.
At the time of the accident, there were two automobiles engaged. The people who were inside the second vehicle were able to get out of the vehicle at the scene of the accident and were taken to the hospital in an ambulance ambulance.
No other information regarding the victims’ conditions, including the victim who was transported by medivac helicopter, was immediately available. This includes the victim who was transported.
