Tow Truck Collides During Carjacking Attempt in Sherman Oaks Neighborhood

During an unsuccessful attempt to carjack a vehicle on Sunday, the driver of a tow truck lost control of the massive vehicle and crashed it in a residential neighbourhood. As a result, at least two vehicles were damaged.

In Sherman Oaks, the moment the tow truck entered the neighbourhood, bringing chaos with it, was captured on surveillance footage from a home located on the 13000 block of Cumpston Street. It was a parked vehicle on the street that was struck by the driver of the tow truck, and the impact caused a pickup truck that was affixed to the flatbed of the tow truck to fall off. At the same time that the commotion was going on, a power pole was brought down.

It is believed that the driver of the tow truck was attempting to steal the pickup truck that was parked on the flatbed. After the collision, the driver sped away from the scene.

The case is being investigated by law enforcement as a hit-and-run accident as well as an attempted theft of a vehicle. It was not immediately possible to obtain a comprehensive description of the one who was driving.

There is still an ongoing investigation.
