Tragic Crash in Dallas: One Dead, Two Officers Injured in Violent Accident

Police say that a marked Dallas police car was involved in a violent crash in Northwest Dallas on Friday morning that hurt two officers, killed a juvenile robbery suspect, and blocked off a major road.

The accident took place in the 3100 block of West Northwest Highway, just north of Dallas Love Field, just after 2 a.m.

A report from Dallas police says that the crime started with a report of a theft in the 9800 block of Dale Crest Drive around 1:40 a.m.

Police said that a preliminary investigation showed that three minors robbed the victim at gunpoint and stole his or her car and other belongings.

Soon after, Dallas police found the stolen car in the 2700 block of W. Northwest Highway and called for more cops to help them stop the car.

Then, around 2 a.m., police said the stolen car crashed into a marked Dallas police squad car that had two officers in it along the 3100 block of W. Northwest Highway.

They were both taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital and have since been released.

Officials said that the suspects’ names will not be made public because they are minors.

got video from nearby businesses’ security cameras that showed when the Dallas police squad car was involved in the violent crash.

The suspect car is seen going the wrong way down Northwest Highway in the video before it crashes into the Dallas police cruiser. The police cruiser did not appear to have its emergency lights on in the video. The video also showed what looked like two police cars with bright lights following the stolen car and getting to the scene of the accident very quickly.

As Alvis Hillman said at T.H.C. shop, “you just know that that was a dangerous situation for everyone.”

Got security video from the T.H.C. shop on Northwest Hwy. and the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store.

“You know, it’s a sad situation,” said Alex Lopez, who runs St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Stores. “Police are out there to help people like us.” They don’t know that every time they go outside, there’s a risk, and it’s sad that they’re getting hurt while doing their job.

Lopez usually checks the security cameras first thing in the morning to see if there are any crimes or speeding going on. He did this at 3 a.m., when the investigation was already well under way.

“When I saw that, I was like, oh my God, I hope everybody’s okay,” he added.

Lopez also said that a fast-moving car had hit the thrift store by accident before.

“Northwest Highway is just extremely busy,” he told me. “There’s so many car accidents.”

Lopez had been watching a small car accident on the corner right before he spoke.

Just before 9 a.m., both cars were moved onto tow trucks, and TxDOT workers were on the scene cleaning up the mess.

Because of the accident, West Northwest Highway in both ways was closed at Webb Chapel Road for a number of hours. Since then, the road has been opened again.

After a crash that sent two police officers to the hospital, Northwest Highway is now open again. Alanna Quillen knows what’s going on.
