Tragic Multi-Car Collision Claims Lives in Wednesday's Devastating Crash

An official stated that a man was killed in a collision involving multiple vehicles that occurred in Oak Hills on Wednesday afternoon.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision was initially reported at approximately 1:45 p.m. at the intersection of Summit Valley Road and Foley Road, which is located in the unincorporated county area which is located just outside of Hesperia.

The drivers of the Honda Accord, the Toyota Tacoma pickup truck, the FedEx box truck, and the GMC Sierra pickup truck were involved in the accident, according to the officials.

Prior to the collision, it was determined that the Toyota was traveling south on Summit Valley Road, which is located just north of Foley Road. This conclusion was reached based on the preliminary investigation.

“For reasons still under investigation, the driver of the Toyota made an unsafe turning movement to the left, into the northbound lane of Summit Valley Road, and where it crashed into a 2017 Honda Accord,” according to a statement released by the CHP. “As a consequence of this collision, the Honda lost control and moved into the southbound lane, directly into the path of a FedEx delivery truck. This resulted in the right side of the Honda colliding with the front of the FedEx truck. Following this collision, the FedEx truck flipped over onto the side that was facing the driver.

The Toyota then continued traveling south, which put it directly in the path of the GMC pickup truck that was approaching, according to the officials. As a result of the subsequent impact, the GMC flipped over multiple times, and it eventually found itself in an open field approximately east of Summit Valley Road.

“Emergency personnel located a male driver trapped within a black Honda Accord and he was pronounced deceased on scene,” according to the official announcement.

Officials from the coroner’s office have not yet disclosed his identity because they are still working to confirm his identity and notify his family.

The other drivers involved in the accident reportedly sustained relatively minor injuries, but they chose not to be transported to hospitals.

Officials from the San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office were called to the scene in order to take custody of the deceased person’s body.

As a result of the investigation, Summit Valley Road was closed in both directions simultaneously.
