An investigation into the selling of cocaine and fentanyl from a motel in Winthrop has been active for the past month, according to the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA).
On Wednesday, as part of the investigation, the authorities conducted a search of the motel as well as a storage unit in Winthrop. They discovered 301 grams of cocaine, 116 grams of fentanyl, and $6,980 in revenue that is believed to have been obtained from drug sales.

Following the searches, the Massachusetts Department of Economic and Social Affairs (MDEA) has reported that Stephen Lee Smith, 34, from Connecticut, and Katelynn Dubois, 32, from Winthrop were taken into custody. Aggravated drug trafficking was the charge that was brought against both of them. The illegal trafficking of schedule W narcotics was another offense that was brought against Dubois.
After being arrested, Dubois and Smith were transported to the Kennebec County Jail.
