SOUTH GATE, CA — Two drivers were killed in a terrible two-car crash early Monday morning near a busy crossing in South Gate, according to officials.
The accident took place in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven store at the corner of Imperial Highway and Garfield Avenue at around 6:30 a.m. The Los Angeles County Fire Department says that when they arrived, one of the victims had already died. The other was taken to a nearby hospital but later died from their injuries.
The police say that this terrible accident was linked to a domestic argument that was going on several miles away in Paramount. This gives the fatal accident a disturbing new twist.
A family fight turns deadly
About four miles away from the crash site, on Exeter Street in Paramount, someone called to report a heated fight that had been going on outside of an apartment complex for over an hour. Because of worries about the worsening situation, deputies were sent to the scene.
As police arrived, the suspect in the fight was said to have driven away from the scene. Deputies tried to follow the driver for a short time but eventually lost sight of them.
A few minutes later, that same car was involved in the fatal accident in the 7-Eleven parking lot. It hit another car and started a fire. Even though firefighters and doctors got there quickly, the fire’s intensity made it very hard to save anyone.
Tragic Ending
The Los Angeles County Fire Department said that they found one person dead at the spot. The second person was taken to the hospital by paramedics, but they later died from their injuries.
The identities of the victims or the suspect have not been made public yet, and the exact reason of the crash has not been explained. The cops are still looking into what happened and trying to figure out what caused this terrible event.
The community is shocked
People in South Gate were shocked and saddened by what happened, which happened in a busy area early in the morning. A lot of people in the area stop at 7-Eleven for quick things, but it quickly turned into the scene of a sad emergency reaction.
A shop owner nearby who saw firemen fighting the fire said, “This is heartbreaking.” “This is not what you would expect in the middle of the morning.” Our thoughts and prayers are with the families.
The police are still looking.
The suspect that the police think is linked to both the crash and the earlier domestic argument is being actively sought by them. The suspect’s car was last seen leaving the Paramount area before the crash, and police are asking anyone with information to come forward.
A spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said, “This was a tragic event that seemed to have started with a personal dispute.” “We are committed to making things clear and making sure that everyone is held accountable.”
What’s Next?
As the investigation goes on, officials are looking at available video footage, comments from witnesses, and data from the vehicles to figure out what happened before the crash. The people in the area are waiting for answers while police work to find those responsible for the deaths.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department wants anyone who knows anything about the suspect or the crime to get in touch with them.
