The incident occurred around 2:20 a.m. on November 11 in the Canterbury Mews area, sparking alarm among residents in the usually peaceful community.
The Unexpected Joyride and Crash
According to the Washington Township Police Department, officers responded to reports of a vehicle crashing into a condominium along Covered Bridge Court. Upon arrival, they found a white SUV with front-end damage parked on Rutland Court.
Authorities discovered that the vehicle had been taken without permission by the two teenagers. Surveillance footage obtained by NBC10 revealed the SUV veering down Haines Mill Drive, crashing through a fence, backing up, and then speeding away.

One startled neighbor, Don Prevary, told that he was awakened by sounds resembling gunfire.
“She backed up really fast. I thought she was going to go through the glass door, but she didn’t. Then, she took off,” Prevary said.
The township’s building inspector examined the damaged homes and confirmed they remain structurally safe despite the collision affecting a fence and an air-conditioning unit.
