Vallejo Police Arrest Suspect in Connection to Hit-and-Run Incident

One victim was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening after a hit-and-run collision that occurred on Monterey and Florida streets. On Thursday morning, the Vallejo Police Department made an arrest of a man who was involved in the incident.

Rashad Hollis, the Public Information Officer for the Vallejo Police Department, stated that officers from the department conducted a traffic stop by pulling up behind a Land Rover. After making an illegal U-turn, the suspect, who was 38 years old at the time, ran through a stop sign and quickly collided with a victim who was driving a Honda Accord.

The suspect got out of the vehicle after the collision and ran down an alley for approximately two blocks. He was eventually apprehended and taken into custody at the 1200 block of Florida Street.

The man threw an unsealed gun, also known as a ghost gun, away as he was running, according to Hollis, who stated that this occurred during the pursuit. Prior to being booked into the Solano County Jail for felony in possession of a firearm and hit and run, the suspect was detained and treated for injuries at the scene of the incident.

Hollis stated that information discovered that the man was from Sacramento, that he had a criminal history that included stealing a vehicle and possessing a firearm, and that he was on probation in Yolo County. This information was discovered after the man was found to be in custody. There were also two warrants out for him in Sacramento County, one for a stolen firearm and the other for stolen property.

Emergency vehicles arrived at the scene of the accident in a short amount of time because it occurred just a few blocks away from a fire that was a two-alarm blaze on Napa Street in Vallejo. The victim, who was driving the Honda Accord, was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening.
