Virginia Weather Alert: Thunderstorms Expected in Blacksburg by Friday Afternoon

State of Virginia, Blacksburg – There is a possibility that thunderstorms will drench Blacksburg by the middle of the afternoon on Friday. These storms may produce intermittent rain, patchy fog, and sloppy roadways throughout the region, particularly along US-460.

The National Weather Service in Blacksburg reports that there is a sixty percent probability of thunderstorms throughout the evening on Friday, and that showers are likely to occur after two o’clock in the afternoon. Before the arrival of storms, temperatures will rise to 82 degrees Fahrenheit. It is important for motorists to be prepared for decreased visibility and small flooding on the streets, especially in locations that are low down.

There is an 80% probability of precipitation after 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, and temperatures will be close to 79 degrees Fahrenheit. Rain and storms will become more intense. It is possible that thunderstorms may deliver heavier downpours between the hours of 8 p.m. and 2 a.m. on Saturday night, which might result in flash flooding. Over the course of the weekend, there will be calm winds, but the excessive humidity may make the situation much more uncomfortable.

The trend of rain and thunderstorms will continue on Sunday, with more showers and isolated thunderstorms possible during the afternoon. Conditions are expected to somewhat improve on Sunday night, but storms may continue until about 8 o’clock in the evening.

What is the good news? There is a thirty percent chance of rain in the afternoon on Monday, with a high temperature of approximately eighty-two degrees Fahrenheit. There will be a little respite before the possibility of thunderstorms returns on Tuesday.
