As a result of a significant collision, the flow of traffic on Interstate 86 in the southeast corner of Chemung County has been impeded.
The collision, which occurred only a short distance east of the Lowman exit (Exit 58), caused the westbound lane to be completely blocked off. In the direction of the east, traffic was limited to a single lane, and vehicles driving in that direction were backed up for approximately half a mile.
Initial reports of the collision were received on June 2 at approximately 12:30 p.m. Several fire engines and ambulances, as well as units from the New York State Police and the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office, were present at the scene of the incident. At the time of 1:50 p.m., there was no information available regarding whether or whether the collision resulted in any casualties.
