Wisconsin Company Lays Off 67 Employees as Sale Deal Falls Through

The facility of a Wisconsin manufacturer that has been in business for a long time and specializes in producing custom steel forgings will be permanently closed, and 67 employees will be laid off later this year.

Following an unsuccessful attempt to sell the company, Milwaukee Forge, which is located at 1532 East Oklahoma Avenue, will be closing its doors, as stated in a letter provided to the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD) as part of the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) program.

Milwaukee Forge, LLC and MF Real Estate Holdings, LLC both appointed Michael S. Polsky to the position of receiver on March 25, 2025. Polsky and a financial consultant have been working together since that time to sell the assets of the company as a going concern through a receivership proceeding that is supervised by the court. The sale could not be secured despite all of those efforts.

The plant will be shut down and a large number of employees will be laid off as a consequence of this, and the separation of workers is scheduled to start on or after August 18, 2025. Additionally, as of that date, all health care benefits that are provided to employees will be terminated.

As a result of the reduction in the number of positions available at the facility, the company has announced that all employee positions will be eliminated permanently, and bumping rights will no longer be exercised.

When it comes to the production of bespoke steel components, Milwaukee Forge is well-known for both its closed-die and hammer forging processes.
