Wisconsin Woman, 69, Hospitalized After Brutal Backyard Bear Encounter

COMSTOCK, Wis. — After being mauled by a black bear in Barron County on Saturday, a woman who is 69 years old is currently healing from her injuries.

At approximately two o’clock in the afternoon, the woman was assaulted in the vicinity of the Town of Comstock, as reported by the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) of Wisconsin. It was possible for the woman to call 911, and she was transported to a nearby hospital. At the moment, we do not know what her condition is.

After responding to the attack, law enforcement officers from Barron County and the City of Cumberland, as well as local Department of Natural Resources (DNR) wardens and employees from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), discovered a cub in a tree. This finding suggests that the incident involved a sow and a cub, as stated in the release.

The authorities have stated that their efforts to locate the bear with a bear hound dog that had been trained to do so were unsuccessful; nonetheless, the efforts to capture the bear are still underway.

It has been stated by the DNR that the reason for the attack remains unknown.
