A collision between two boats that occurred on a popular lake in the Adirondacks on Monday evening resulted in the death of one person and the injury of another.
The collision that resulted in fatalities took place on Great Sacandaga Lake close to Broadalbin in Fulton County at approximately 6:15 p.m. There is a large lake that can be found on the southern boundary of Adirondack Park.
Following a report of an accident “involving a boat versus a jet ski” that occurred off of Van Allen Road, the Broadalbin-Kenyetto Fire Company stated that emergency personnel rushed to the lake to assist with the situation.
According to Information provided by Fulton County Sheriff Richard Giardino to the Times Union, a woman in her 20s passed away after the personal watercraft she was riding on collided with a boat.
According to a report by the Times Union, a man in his 20s who was riding with the woman sustained injuries and was taken to the Albany Medical Center for initial treatment. In the beginning, it was unclear what his condition was.
Following the cancellation of the request for assistance, a medical helicopter crew from LifeNet of New York was placed on standby, according to the firefighters from Broadalbin-Kenyetto.
There was no other injury that was reported.
None of the names of those who were involved in the collision, including the name of the woman who passed away, were immediately made public.
It has been reported by Fulton deputies that the accident is being investigated by the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, the state Department of Environmental Conservation, the New York State Police, and the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputy sheriffs of Fulton County stated that the investigators received assistance from firefighters from Broadalbin-Kenyetto, the Tri-County Swift Water Rescue Team, the Mayfield Fire District, the Northville Fire Department, the Hope Volunteer Fire Department, the Edinburg Volunteer Fire Department, Lake Valley Emergency Medical Services, the Fulton County Emergency Management, and the Fulton County Communications Division.
